Josef started his career working as a Foresight Analyst for Z_punkt the Foresight Company (Cologne, Germany). At Z_punkt, he worked on foresight and innovation projects for clients from the automotive, chemicals, and energy sectors, focussing primarily on scenario planning and long-term trend analysis. Topics covered ranged from the future of the global energy system to trends affecting personal care products for the generation 50+.
In 2009, Josef moved to London, where he started working as a freelance Foresight Consultant for a range of public and private sector organisations. This included: developing the horizon scanning and futures function for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs; a project exploring the future of the UK waste system; and developing scenarios for a German chemicals company.
The combination of biology, business studies and foresight gives Josef a unique perspective on the wide range of factors shaping the future of technologies, companies and markets.
Today, Josef is particularly interested in the future of people, spaces and technologies in urban environments. Since joining Arup, Josef has worked on the future of the workplace as well as emerging concepts for improving mobility in urban environments.
