In June 2010, Foresight were commissioned by Corio, an owner and operator of shopping centres across mainland Europe, to design and run a day’s foresight and strategy workshop as part of their annual Senior Management Meeting in Berlin. Bringing together executives from offices in each region, the workshop explored the underlying drivers shaping Corio’s business environment to 2030.
We used the Drivers of Change cards to frame the morning’s discussion, which ensured that participants stretched their thinking across the STEEP framework covering social, technological, economic, environmental and political drivers. We then assessed the implications of the most important drivers, in terms of future opportunities and business risks. Participants then devised an action-oriented strategy to future-proof a number of exemplar retail centres in each of the European markets.
