Eco-Resorts of the Future

The Eco-Resorts of the Future workshop in collaboration with Arup Hotels and Leisure took place in Tanzania ,Africa in the summer of 2008. Various hospitality stakeholders – from designers to developers – came together to examine the various drivers influencing the future development of resorts in eastern Africa. Workshop participants were led on a futures journey to consider the challenges and opportunities of sustainable development; what resulted was a study of what was not only probable but possible in the developing context of Tanzania. In the end four completely different concepts emerged inspired by the global trends of mobility, communities, ethical luxury and invisible green.
