The EU has taken a landmark step in banning fisheries discards.  As much as 2/3 of some fisheries result in economic or other discards. Unwanted marine species are considered by-cath.  This is a highly wasteful practice.  Generally, discarded fish are returned to the sea either dead or dying.  Bravo to the EU for taking steps to the do the right thing.  To read the full article click here.
