Research project exploring future challenges and opportunities for China’s energy industries.
China is the largest energy consumer and producer in the world. The continued increase in energy demand is putting huge pressure on securing future energy supply and developing more sustainable forms of production. Apart from these challenges, there are also big opportunities for expanding the use of renewables and implementing innovative approaches to energy production, distribution and consumption.
Energy Hot Topics in China aims to understand the current energy situation in China and analyse selected ‘hot energy topics’ that will shape the country over the coming decade. It explores key trends in China’s energy sector, in particular in relation to China’s 12th Five-Year-Plan.
The report proposes a series of questions designed to facilitate a discussion around possible solutions and to help lay the foundations for future energy-related research and development in China.
